Do not over clean.

Suggestions: Never touch piercing unless you’ve just washed your hands with anti-microbial soap (Provon), or the piercing could become irritated or infected. Do Not use alcohol, peroxide, hibiclense, or any form of iodine to clean your piercing. Taking vitamin C and zinc orally can speed up healing time. Do Not remove the jewelry until piercing is COMPLETELY healed. Using H2Ocean Aftercare Spray can also help healing. Do not play with your piercing, only touch it to clean it. Slight swelling may occur in freshly pierced tissue, along with tenderness and slightly red coloration. This is all normal. Do not submerge piercing in chlorinated (pools) or salt water for at least 3 weeks and for fresh water (rivers/lakes) for at least 3 months.

Sea Salt / Hot compress Instructions: A sea salt hot compress can help your piercing if it has become irritated or infected. DO NOT use alcohol, peroxide, hibiclense, Bactine, Bacitracin or Iodine to clean your piercing. DO NOT REMOVE THE JEWELRY UNTIL PIERCING IS COMPLETELY HEALED. Slight swelling may occur in freshly pierced tissue, along with tenderness, slightly red coloration and a yellow/white secretion. It is recommended that a waterproof bandage be used for a healing piercing whenever submersion in a pool, hot tub, lake, pond or the ocean occurs. Do not sleep on your piercing, as added pressure can cause irritation, migration, rejection or excess scarring. Avoid changing jewelry while you are healing.

Directions for Cleaning: Rinse with H2Ocean Salt Mouthwash or Triad Mouth Rinse after every time you eat, drink or smoke (this applies to anything other than bottled water). With all piercings excluding the toungue, wash once daily in the shower with an anti-microbial soap, (Provon). Avoid rotating or moving the jewelry when cleaning, as doing so can iritate delicate healing tissue and prolong the healing process. Spray H2Ocean Aftercare Spray directly onto the piercing 4-6 times daily and allow to dry. With all piercings excluding the tongue, treat with H2Ocean by spraying it on inside and outside or H2Ocean after piercing lotion three times a day on a cotton swab and cleanse with anti-microbial soap (Provon) once daily in the shower.

Do not remove the jewelry until piercing is COMPLETELY healed. Taking vitamin C and zinc orally can speed up healing time. Using a mixture of sea salt and water can also help healing (mix 1/4 tsp to 8oz of very warm water, rinse and count to 10 and repeat until all 8oz are gone). Slight swelling may occur in freshly pierced tissue, along with tenderness and slightly red coloration. This is all normal. To help with swelling, keep your mouth cold, suck ice or eat popsicles. Do not let piercing come in contact with anything other than cleanser or food while healing. Try to sleep with your head elevated, this will help your blood circulate and reduce swelling. You also might want to buy a new toothbrush, the old one most likely has a large collection of bacteria on it.

Taking vitamin C and zinc orally can speed up healing time. A sea salt hot compress can help your piercing if it has become irritated (very red, swollen, discharge, sore) Mix 1/4 teaspoon of SEA SALT to 8oz WARM WATER. A good tip to mixing your solution is taking TWO pinches of sea salt and mixing it with one bottle (20 fl. oz.) of water. Distilled water is always the preferred choice. Soak a paper towel (do not use gauze or cotton as they can catch on the piercing) with the solution and place directly on the piercing. Apply light pressure for at least 10-15 minutes. A sea salt compress or rinse is also helpful in reducing scar tissue and aiding in the overall healing and care for a body piercing. Do not play with your piercing, only touch it to clean it. Slight swelling may occur in freshly pierced tissue, along with tenderness and slightly red coloration. This is all normal. DO NOT engage in unprotected sex while your piercing is healing. If sex is uncomfortable, wait until it isn't, and be careful on insertion. Urine is sterile to your own body, so if your piercing goes through your urethra, your urine will clean it. If you have the above symptoms accompanied by a green discharge, immediately see your piercer. If you have any questions please stop by our shop or call 603-645-1449 or toll-free 866-818-2483.

TATTOO AFTERCARE

Remove bandage in 1 to 2 hours. If the bandage sticks to the skin, soak the area with cold water until the bandage loosens, then remove carefully. Wash tattoo carefully with cold water, gently applying an antibacterial soap such as Provon, with fingers to remove all surface blood. Rinse with cold water, pat dry with a clean towel and air-dry for approx. 15 minutes.

After cleaning, gently apply a thin layer of OINTMENT or SALVE sparingly. Repeat 3 or 4 times a day as needed for the next 2 to 3 days. Suggested: Ink Fixx Ointment, Tattoo Goo Salve

After tattoo is 2 to 3 days old, it is suggested you switch to using LOTION. Suggested: Ink Fixx Lotion, Tattoo Goo Lotion.

Salves and Lotions keep your tattoo from drying and the skin areas soft and moist. Always apply sparingly. Too much prevents the skin/tattoo from breathing.

The new tattoo should be exposed to the air as much as possible. The more exposure, the faster it will heal.

  • DO NOT re-bandage the tattoo
  • DO NOT apply Vaseline, lanolin or petroleum based products
  • DO NOT apply alcohol
  • DO NOT rub, scratch or pick at the tattoo
  • DO NOT expose to direct sunlight, swim or soak in sauna, steam bath or bathtub for two weeks.
  • DO NOT share ointments or salves with ANYONE

Avoiding sunlight is recommended for the optimal life of the tattoo. If you have any questions, feel free to call us or come by the shop!
